How much does it cost?
The costs vary depending on the size unit you need. You can get a quote online or call us for more information.
Do I pay weekly or monthly?
Payment is in advance and you will be required to pay for 4 weeks at a time. Discounts are offer for paying in advance for periods of 26 or 52 weeks.
How do I pay?
Initial payment will be taken via credit or debit card. For future payments Direct Debit is the easiest way to pay. Other options are via our pay online portal www.dashselfstore.co.uk/pay-invoice, credit or debit card over the phone, BACs payments or cheque.
We are unable to accept cash.
Do I have to book?
We advise that you book to ensure that you get the unit size you need but as long as you bring the required documents you can move in without booking. Moving in must take place during our office opening hours.
You can easily book online on our website.
Can I move in today?
You can move in at any time when our office is open (Opening Times). You will need to bring with you a suitable proof of identity (a passport); proof of address (a utility bill); and a credit or debit card for payment.
Can I hire a van?
Van hire is available from our sister company Dash Drive. Customers of Dash Self Store receive a 30% discount on the rental of vans from Dash Drive.
How long can I stay?
You can stay for as long as you need to.
Can I change the size of my unit?
Yes at Dash Self Store you can change the size of your unit depending on your changing requirements and availability.
What is the minimum time I can stay?
Our minimum stay period is 1 week.
Can I store anything?
You can store most things at Dash Self Store with the exception of:
- Living items, such as animals and plants
- Hazardous materials, such as flammable liquids and explosives
- Items that could decompose, such as exposed foodstuffs
- Unauthorised or illegal goods, such as drugs or firearms

What security do you have?
We take security very seriously and have extensive security systems in place to protect your belongings, including;
- 24 hour Digital CCTV located both inside and outside the main building, monitoring all entrances and exits
- A sophisticated twin alarm system – one for the building and one for each individual storage space
- Coded electronic gate access to the building allowing access only with your own personal PIN Number
- A fire and smoke detection system
Does Dash Self Store provide locks? Do you keep a key to my storage unit?
For your security you provide your own padlock for your unit. We do not hold a key so only you will have access to your unit. For your convenience we sell a range of padlocks.
What documents do I need to rent a unit?
When renting a unit from Dash Self Store you will be required to provide proof of identity and a proof of address.
Accepted forms of ID – Passport, Photo Card Driving Licence
Accepted proof of address – Utility bill, Bank Statement, Tenancy document all less than 3 months old
Do I need insurance?
All items must be insured whilst in stored with us. We offer insurance at £1.00 per week per £1000 of cover (to a maximum of £25,000), or alternatively you can provide your own insurance. Proof of insurance must be provided to Dash Self Store within 14 days.
What size units do you have?
Our units range from 10sq ft up to 600sq ft.
Do I need to give you notice when I want to move out?
Yes. We require 7 days written notice when you wish to vacate. Upon vacation we will refund any remaining full weeks and your security deposit.
When can I access my storage unit?
Standard access hours are 7am to 7pm, 7 days a week. Extended access is available for a small additional admin charge.
Do you have trolleys I can use?
Yes we have trolleys that are free for you to use.
Is it possible to view the storage rooms before I rent?
If you would like to have a look our storage facility then please pop in during our office opening hours.
Monday – Friday 08:00 – 17:30
Saturday – 08:00 – 13:00
Do I have to pay a security deposit
Yes we require a security deposit from all customers.
Deposit for
Non- Direct Debit Customers –We will require a deposit equal to 4 weeks
rent
Deposit for
Direct Debit Customers –We will require a deposit equal to 1 weeks rent.
Can I reserve a unit?
Yes you can. This can be done by either booking online, calling our office or popping in and speak to one of our team.
To make a
confirmed reservation a payment of £25 will be taken per unit. This is
non-refundable. This payment will then be added to your account and deducted
from the money owed from your 1st invoice. Reservations are only
valid for 4 weeks after which point any deposit paid will be lost. If the
reservation is still required then another reservation deposit of £25 must be
paid.
Can I use electric appliances in my room?
Use of sockets within your unit(s) need to be approved with the Store Manager and some items are prohibited from use, such as heaters, kettles and loud equipment. All equipment must be available for PAT testing once a year. There are only a small number of rooms that have sockets within them. Alternatively you can arrange to have a power supply installed with the agreement of your Store Manager for an additional cost depending on your requirements. Please speak to the Store Manager to discuss what is possible.
Do you charge access fees?
Access during our reception opening hours is free of charge. You can come and go as often as you need with no additional cost.
My rental cost will be less than the reservation deposit. Will I get a refund?
If when you vacate your storage unit your account is in credit, the balance will be refunded. There is no minimum charge for storage. you only pay for the time you need.
